Most college coaches receive numerous emails in a day from potential recruits. How can you make your email stand out and be read?

First of all you can find the names and emails of all coaches in the staff directory of each athletic department website.

Focus on your key facts about yourself. Highlight something important in the subject line.

Address the coach by name. They don’t want to receive an email that may be going out to several coaches. They want it to be personal to them. Stay away from “Dear Coach.”

Provide current and relevant information. Always list your coaches contact cell numbers so they have someone they can phone if you are too young to call.

Be aware of recruiting rules. Each sport has different timelines within the rules and regulations of the NCAA.

Write short emails with direct information. Long emails will most likely not be read from start to finish.
